On Sunday May 4th Pam Glover and Sandy Schmidt PINKED UP, mounted up and set off on the first leg of a nearly 200 mile journey from Ninette, MB to Richer MB.

Over the next 13 days, along with their pilot driver and despite the cold rainy weather they wound their way first down Highway 23 to the corner of Highway 5, north on Highway 5 to Highway 2 then along Highway 2 to Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway.  They trailered around Winnipeg and took up the PINK TRAIL at Deacons Corner, then proceeded east on the service road running parallel to Highway 1 all the way to Richer MB.

Towns along the way greeted them with open arms hosting suppers, gymkana events and musical drill team events by local 4H clubs.  They were also joined on occasion by other riders which brightened up even the cloudiest days!

On May 16, the last leg of the journey, they were joined by 10 other riders who knew no bounds in PINKING UP!  What a sight they were to see riding into their final destination, Richer Inn, Richer MB.

Their WindUp was hosted by Cat Sass Tavern and Richer Inn consisting of a delicious Sud, Spud and Steak supper while being entertained by musician Johnni Splash.  A great time was had by all in attendance with cheque presentations being made by RM of Ste Anne, Dawson Dispatch and Simply Connected Internet Service.

Over $5000.00 was raised with the help from communities, rider pledges and private donations.  What an experience it was and a great way to start off a summer of fundraising.

We look forward to the Manitoba Horse Council Sponsored Ride on June 14th, Birds Hill Park  and our booth at the Richer Roughstock Rodeo, Aug 8 – 10th.  Other events are pending for a fun filled summer of horseback riding, meeting new friends and of course raising funds for our Charity of Choice, Helping Hands for Manitobans with Breast Cancer.

See you on the trails!
